EUFETS is a pioneer in the production of retroviral vectors for clinical use and has been involved in a multitude of clinical trials in gene therapy. As of 2005 vectors have been produced for 6 different trials in Germany, Switzerland, the UK and France. These include trials for inherited immune deficiencies, cancer, and HIV infection.
In addition to this, gene-modified cells (haematopoietic stem cells, T-cells) have been produced for 3 different trials in Germany as well as in Switzerland.
So far EUFETS has produced more than 1000 cell therapy products used to treat patients throughout Europe and the US.
- More than 1000 products for cellular therapies: peripheral stem cells, bone marrow, cord blood, CD34+ stem cells, donor lymphocytes
- GvHD suicide gene therapy: vector production & T-cell transduction
- ADA SCID gene therapy: vector production
- CGD gene therapy: vector production & stem cell transduction
- Anti-HIV gene therapy: vector production & CD4+ T-cell transduction
- Cancer gene therapy (chimeric T cell receptors): vector production
